Modern Renaissance Palette Review

($42 at Sephora or anastasiabeverlyhills.com)

The Modern Renaissance palette is one of those palettes that every aspiring beauty blogger must have. It’s quickly become a beauty icon, and most gurus swear by it. And with good reason!

(On the left- the box the palette came in. On the right-The outside of the palette.)

Packaging: Both the box and the palette are an elegant dusty rose color. The cover of the palette is like velvet- which is very beautiful, but very hard to clean, as you can probably see on mine. The white and gold lettering just adds to the sophisticated feel of the palette. Another nice touch is on the back of the palette box, all the colors are on display, which lets you look at the colors before you take them out of the box. Also, the mirror on the inside of the palette was a nice touch.

(the first row in the palette. From left to right- Tempura, Golden Ochre, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter, and Cyprus Umber)

Color Scheme: All the colors go together perfectly. I feel like all the colors are completely usable. There is no “sore thumb” in the palette (like a neon green in a palette of  browns) making the palette feel complete.

(the second row in the palette. From left to right – Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe, and Realgar.)

Quality: This is a very broad category, so let me go into detail.

  1. Pigmentation: All the colors are extremely pigmented, especially “Vermeer” and “Primavera”.
  2. Texture: Again, “Vermeer” and “Primavera” take the cake! They are so buttery and smooth, there is not a single clump. However, “Red Ochre” is a tid bit chalky.
  3. Blendability: All the colors blend together beautifully. There is no issue with colors not going together. The easiest to blend would have to be, again “Vermeer” and “Primavera“, and the worst being “Red Ochre” and “Cyprus Umber“. They are a little harder to blend compared to the other shadows in the palette, but even then they are still quite easy to blend.
  4. Color Payoff: The colors are so beautiful and pigmented, you don’t even really need to use primer (Though you should anyways…). I have absolutely nothing to complain about!
  5. durability: Honestly, this is the one place that “Primavera” and “Vermeer” are lacking. They rub off easily, but that can be fixed by using a primer.

In conclusion, this palette is a beauty necessity! These ultra pigmented shades can be used to create a variety of warm tone looks. It is completely worth the $42, you will definitely get your money’s worth. The only grip I have is that if you get anything on the outside of the palette, you will have a very difficult time cleaning. But as long as you keep it in the box or a safe spot, you’ll be fine.I would definitely give this a 10/10, and I would recommend this palette to anyone. Hope you guys enjoyed this review!
